As of July 1st, 2008, New York License Law changed.
Now, when a licensee acquires over 15 years of continuous
licensure and
is a Broker or Associate Broker, they are no longer exempt from the bi-annual
Continuing Education Requirement. The new law has
eliminated the exemption for any licensees who obtained their broker
license after 7/1/08. An additional change to DOS law is
that Real Estate Office Managers are now required to be licensed as
a Broker not just as a salesperson. The Broker's pre-license
course remains as a 45- hour requirement. However the new
state exam includes questions from the 30 hours of additional
material incorporated into the new salesperson syllabus.
Therefore, in order to meet the educational requirements of the DOS,
all Broker license candidates will be required to take the
additional 30 hour supplemental course in addition to the 45 hour
Broker course.
There will be two school exams (one for the 30 hour supplemental
and another for the 45-hour Brokers portion) which must each be
passed with a 70% score. A single expanded Brokers exam from
the DOS will also need to be taken. The new regulation from the
DOS will allow Broker candidates to take the required 45-hour &
30-hour supplemental training courses either in the classroom
or on-line. However the final exams must be taken in a
classroom setting at a certified school. LISORE will be able to
accommodate you, which ever way you choose to obtain your Broker's
training. There are links on the left for Current schedules, on-line
registration, and a tracking sheet to help schedule your classes.
Hope to see you in class! |
